Weekend Family Events for March 14 and 15

We had such a great weekend last weekend, it really started to feel like spring! This weekend is a little cooler, but there is lots of sun in the forecast. So, it looks like another good weekend to hit up an Ottawa area sugar bush. It is also the start of March Break for most kids. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I did a blog post on Ottawa activities for the family over the break including some at the museums this weekend, you can check that out here. As for other event ideas, here is what is going on for March 14 and 15.

Saturday:

  • March Break Artissimo Activities – National Gallery of Canada, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (Play art games, make your own artworks and share art with other kids. Artissimo activities are for children ages 3 and older, accompanied by an adult. Participation is included with Gallery admission, which is free for kids 11 and younger.)
  • March Break with the Dinosaurs – Centre Court, Carlingwood Mall, 10:00 am – 7:00 pm (Come and visit with 12-14 big dinosaurs during mall hours)
  • Camp Fortune’s 100th Anniversary Celebration – Camp Fortune, 10:00 am – 10:00 pm (special kids activities, bonfire, torchlit parade and fireworks)
  • Animal Tracking on Snowshoes – Gatineau Park Visitor Centre, 10:30 am in French, 1:30 pm in English (Take a free guided snowshoe hike with a nature interpreter, and find out about animals and their tracks. Snowshoes are provided for this free, two-hour activity. Make sure you dress warmly for an outdoor activity. Recommended for children of age 8 and older. Space is limited and reservations are recommended.)
  • Pan American Olympic Qualifiers Wrestling – Shaw Centre, 10:30 am – 2:00 pm and again at 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm (come cheer on Canadian wrestlers trying to earn their spot at the Tokyo Olympics, womens qualifiers and finals on Saturday)
  • St Patrick’s Day Parade – City Hall down Bank St to Lansdowne, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (wear some green and come down early to get a front row seat at this fun spring parade)
  • Ottawa St Patricks Day Party – Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne, 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm (ticketed event but free for kids 12 and under, music headlined by Ashley MacIsaac, dancing and taste testing)
  • March Break Weekend Glow Skate – RA Centre, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm (GlowSport provides everything from the glowing jersey rental to the glowing face paint and family friendly tunes. All you have to do is show up with your skates (and a helmet if you’re under 12) to enjoy the experience. Advance passes now available)
  • Rideau Hall Public Skating – Rideau Hall, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (free public skating on a heritage outdoor rink)
  • Disney on Ice Presents Worlds of Enchantment – Canadian Tire Centre, 11:00 am, 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm (an action-packed ice spectacular featuring four fun-filled Disney stories)

Sunday:
