Weekend Family Events for January 11 and 12

Welcome to the weekend! It seems like a pretty quiet one as far as Ottawa events go. Good news though – the national museums which had been closed this week for annual cleaning will reopen on Saturday. It could be a great weekend to hit up a museum, in particular it is the final weekend for the Highland Warriors exhibit at the War Museum. Here is what is going on for the weekend of January 11 and 12.

Saturday:

  • 2020 Hobbies and Miniatures Festival – 181 rue Princepale, Gatineau, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (admission is free, great for the whole family)
  • Craft for Kids – Museoparc, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (In January at the CreActivity Club: Snowflake! the animators of the Club will be showing children how to make beautiful Snowflake)
  • Animal Tracking on Snowshoes – Gatineau Park, 10:30 am in French, 1:30 pm in English (Take a free guided snowshoe hike with a nature interpreter, and find out about animal tracks. Snowshoes are provided for this free, two-hour activity. Make sure you dress warmly for an outdoor activity. Recommended for children of age 8 and older.)
  • Hummingbird Chocolate Factory Tours – Hummingbird Chocolate, 9 Houston Drive, Mississippi Mills, 10:30 am – 11:15 am (45-minute tour takes you on a journey behind Hummingbird’s bustling operations, tickets are $5, recommended for kids age 6 and older)
  • Earth Path Field Walks and Workshops Open House –
  • Maleficent: Mistress of Evil – Ottawa Family Cinema, 2:00 pm (An all new Disney-family adventure for Aurora and Maleficent)

Sunday:

  • French Storytime – Indigo Barrhaven, 10:30 am – 11:30 am (Come join Hélène Fortin for some French story time fun! No registration required. All welcome)
  • Calling All Little Pediatricians – Indigo Pinecrest, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (workshop for ages 4-10 yrs, Little doctors will find this out and practice ways to burp babies, learn how to feed them, and see how to give a baby a sponge bath. They will even get their own baby doll to take home to practise with. Ticket price is $50, register ahead of time)
