A (Slightly) Spooky Sleepover Party Success Story

Earlier this month I got SUPER lucky and won a prize off an online Instagram giveaway. The prize was a Halloween themed sleepover styled by Sweet T Sleepover Party. It would include 3 stylish tents, air mattresses, personalized name boards, lighting, table trays, cozy bedding, decorative pillows & customized party decor all set up, styled and taken down the following day.

Such an adorable, personalized set up to sleep and play in.

Admittedly, I wasn’t really sure how it would go. Lucas and Rowan are only 6 and 4 years old and had never been to or hosted a sleepover with friends before. We thought it would be best to invite their buddies Zoe and Ruby, who are also 6 and 4, and sisters who live only minutes from us (and could easily go home if they changed their mind about sleeping over). The only problem was, the package was for 3 tents and there would be 4 kids. Fortunately my son had an incredibly mature and generous moment offering to let the girls have the stylish set up while he would set up his own teepee and sleeping bag. Proud mama moment.

Sweet T Sleepover is a new local company and the brainchild of an absolutely lovely Ottawa mom named Kayleigh. I met Kayleigh when she showed up at our house on Saturday afternoon and proceeded to set-up an amazing, Pinterest worthy sleepover display. I was super impressed with how she worked with our limited space (setting up in our not-so large living room). Lucas and Rowan circled around her getting increasingly excited with what was going on. Soon after, when their friends arrived, the excitement only mounted. Everyone was blown away by how things looked.

After the kids had explored the tents and Halloween decor, everyone sat down to a pizza dinner, complete with witches brew punch to drink.

Make your own sundae station…just a whole lotta candy.

Earlier in the day the kids and I had made a trip to Bulk Barn where we stocked up on some Halloween treats, and so, for dessert the kids got to make their own ice cream sundaes with the candy (a very, very special dessert that was not without consequences…sugar high to follow).

Lucas looking pretty proud of his creation.

After dessert the girls got all cosy in their tents, and Lucas set up his teepee, and the four of them watched our favourite Halloween classic movie ‘Hocus Pocus.’

Lucas set in his teepee, the girls in their tents, watching a movie.

After the movie it was time to get ready for bed. 4 year old Ruby wasn’t quite ready to sleepover and she headed home with her parents. Luke seized the opportunity and took over Ruby’s purple tent ahead of bedtime.

Lucas took Ruby’s tent (but turned her name around, lol)

Despite my husband reading them a way-too scary bedtime story (he read them old school fairytale Rumpelstiltskin…legit terrifying right?), these three kids actually fell asleep and stayed asleep the whole night in their tents. I was impressed.

Three sleepy, and super lucky, kiddos.

The next day, Kayleigh returned and packed away the whole set-up quickly and cleanly. It really was such a fun experience for the kids.

Sweet T Sleepover is already booking parties into the Spring and I can see why. It is a really fun idea, especially for kids aged 6-12 years old. Kayleigh also offers Pop Up Princess Parties, which includes a mirror & dress up tent filled with 8 Princess dresses, tiaras and wands, as well as 2 decorated tents & table trays all set up, styled and taken down for a 3 hour rental. That sounds like an amazing party option for younger girls who aren’t quite ready for a sleepover. If you think your kids might like to consider this for a birthday party I encourage you to check out the different packages and pricing here.
