Weekend Events Family Events for October 26-27

This is THE final weekend to hit up a lot of those wonderful fall and Halloween activities. It is the final weekend of Fall Rhapsody. Gatineau Park will close its roadways at 6pm on Sunday October 27, so if you haven’t been into the park to check out the fall colours and maybe take the family on a hike, this is the weekend to do it! Here is my rundown on what is going on around town for October 26-27.

Saturday:

  • Carp Halloween Market – Carp Farmer’s Market, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm (more than 95 vendors, come in costume and trick or treat at the vendors booths, Haunted Barn)
  • Halloween Costume Party – The Log Farm, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (a costume party at the farm, wagon rides, corn maze, scarecrow lane, animals, pumpkins, and all children in costumes will receive a free loot bag of yummy treats)
  • A Barnyard Halloween – Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm (Make some ghoulish treats, create a creepy craft, learn all about bats, enjoy a barn dance, and visit a spooky barn. Costumed visitors — young and old alike — can join the costume parade and choose their very own pumpkin to bring home)
  • Family Halloween Fun – Bank of Canada Museum, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Children 5-13 can explore the different beliefs, superstitions and cultural practices people have with money in a comfy, cozy reading zone, story time, crafts)
  • Christmas Craft Show – Nepean Sportsplex, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (over 130 talented artisans, artists and designers and their creations, $6 admission)
  • Kreepy Kemptville – Old Town Kemptville, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm ( Dress up and head to Downtown Kemptville for some scary fun and trick or treating (while supplies last) at selected businesses)
  • Mall-O-Ween – Carlingwood Mall, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm ( come in costume and collect candy from four designated Trick or Treat locations)
  • Pumpkinfest – Proulx Maple and Berry Farm, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (wagon ride through the mysterious forest, Face-painting, Hay structures, tree house and slides, several giant outdoor play parks
    mazes & corn field mazes) 
  • Haunting Season – Saunders Farm, 10:00 – 6:00 pm (hedge mazes, haunted house, haunted hayride, jumping pillows, play structures, puppet shows, food and more)
  • World of Poutine Championship – Community Hub, Kanata, 11:00 am – 9:00 pm (features a Kids Fun Zone, Face Painting, Live Music, Beer Garden, Best Poutine Competition, Feature Foodies, and more)
  • Halloween Event at Chapters – Chapters Gloucester and Indigo Barrhaven, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (Dress up in your best costume and join us for a Halloween parade! Plus, make your own colour changing slime and hunt for treasure in our Foam Alive demo. Register online ahead of time)
  • Carleton Pumpkin Fest – Abby Hill Farms, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (hosted by MPP Goldie Ghamari, locally-grown pumpkins will be given out to the first 300 children)
  • Tricks N’ Treats: The Haunted Mall Adventure – Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm (For kids under 12 years of age, meet characters, come in costume, story time with Dracula, free event but register on eventbrite to guarantee a spot)
  • A Nightmare on Elgin Street – Elgin St, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (trick or treat at businesses, free Face painting & Balloon Animals, dance party at Jack Purcell)
  • Incident at the Bunker: A Zombie Adventure – Diefenbunker Museum, 1:00 pm onwards (Guests will be led on an interactive adventure with the undead, deep inside the labyrinth that is the Cold War Museum. This unique Halloween experience is a perfect combination of storytelling, interactive challenges,)
  • Wickedly Westboro – Westboro Village, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm (dress up your kids and dogs and enjoy an afternoon of spooky fun entertainment for your whole family including trick or treating at businesses and street entertainment.
  • Tunnel of Mild Terror (Children’s Version) – Brockville Tunnel of Terror, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (A lighter, more family friendly version of the haunted house attraction. $5 for children $10 for adults)
  • Trick Or Treat with the Mayor – Ottawa City Hall, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm (admission is a non perishable food item, come trick or treat with Mayor Watson, visit the Witches Den, and head to the Pumpkin Patch to decorate your own mini pumpkin)
  • The Great Pumpkin Patch – The Merry Dairy, 102 Fairmont, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm (Bring your carved or uncarved pumpkin or gourd and enjoy a hot chocolate affiagdo and settle in for an outdoor screening of It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown)
  • Pumpkinferno – Upper Canada Village, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm (spectacular display of more than 7000 carved pumpkins, you must buy your tickets online ahead of time to reserve your night)
  • Halloween Skate – Mlacak Arena, Kanata, 7:00 pm – 7:50 pm (free public skate, come in costume and bring your own mug for refreshments)

Sunday:

  • Mansion Mayhem – Goulbourn Museum, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (Drop your little ghosts and goblins off to decorate edible haunted houses, make creepy crafts and play ghoulish games! This is a drop-off activity for ages 6-11. Cost is $27 per child, children must pre register)
  • Lansdowne Park Pumpkin Derby – Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (community event with lots of games, crafts, activities and, of course, pumpkin derby races)

  • Free Kids Halloween Scavenger Hunt – Barrhaven Boston Pizza, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm (dress in costume, Scavenger hunt is for kids 10 & under only, Halloween treat bags for all those who complete the task!, reservations required)
  • World of Poutine Championship – Community Hub, Kanata, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm (features a Kids Fun Zone, Face Painting, Live Music, Beer Garden, Best Poutine Competition, Feature Foodies, and more)
  • Tricks N’ Treats: The Great Wonderland Tea Party – Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, 11:30 am – 2:00 pm (Sit and have tea with Alice and her friends, play checkers and croquet at this free event, pre register to guarantee a spot)
