Weekend Family Events for April 13-14

It is a super busy weekend around Ottawa, with a ton going on for families! There are some Easter events ahead of the full Easter line-up for next weekend. Have you checked out my post about Ottawa’s Best Easter Events yet? If you haven’t, make sure you do! Here is my list of family friendly events for the weekend of April 13-14.

Saturday:

  • Tots Be Growing Children’s Consignment Sale – Nepean Sportsplex, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm ($2 admission or two items for the food bank)
  • The Great Egg Race – Lansdowne Park, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (Design an egg car, build it and compete in the Great Egg Race, children register for a race according to their age, other fun free family activities throughout the day)
  • Ottawa Parent and Child Expo – Nepean Sportsplex, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (the Capital Region’s largest & longest running bi-annual bilingual parent & kids expo, with 125 exhibitors, performers, Meet the Keepers, Little Ray’s Reptiles, stunt dog show and more)
  • Craft for Kids – Museoparc, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (In April, at the CreActivity Club: Easter “stained glass” With Easter approaching, the children will be making beautiful eggs inspired by stained glass)
  • Alice in Wonderland Event – Carlingwood Shopping Centre, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (join Alice and her friends for Flamingo Croquet, Tea Cup Toss, Tea with Alice, crafts, face painting and more)
  • Mutchmor Book Sale – 185 Fifth Ave, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (more than 24 thousand used books for sale)
  • Egg Hunts at Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm – 2452 York’s Corners Rd, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (advance tickets to these popular events are already SOLD OUT, but they do offer same day tickets if you show up at the sugar bush, you can meet the Easter Bunny, take a wagon ride out to the sugar bush and search for the lost eggs, Adults are $5.25 a ticket, children are $7.50)
  • Tiny Hoppers Free Easter Party – locations around Ottawa, Kanata and Barrhaven, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm ( face painting, crafts, refreshment and a visit from the Easter Bunny. There will be 2 egg hunts one at 1030 am and one at 1130 am. Everyone one is Welcome)
  • Irish Spring Fair – St. Patrick’s High School, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (more than 90 vendors, children’s play area, raffles, cafe)
  • Canterbury High School Children’s Theatre Festival – 900 Canterbury Ave, shows at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm and 1 pm (pay what you can, come enjoy 6 shows ranging from ages 4-10, in between shows there will be fun games, magic and more)
  • The Easter Bunny at Hazeldean Mall – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (come and have your portrait taken with the Easter Bunny, 4 high resolution digital photos for $20)
  • Twice as Nice: Spring Consignment Sale – Algonquin College, 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (children’s gently used clothing, outerwear, toys, books, games and gear , free admission)
  • Old Town Kemptville BIA Easter Bunny Hop – 15 Prescott St, Kemptville, 10:30 am – 1:30 am (children of all ages are invited to come to Downtown Kemptville to enjoy Easter treats, activities and face painting, the Easter Bunny will also make an appearance)
  • The Easter Bunny at Billings Bridge Mall – 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (The Easter Bunny will be set up in center court for pictures and fun giveaways for the kids)
  • Meet the Easter Bunny – St.Laurent Shopping Centre, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm (head to Centre court to have your kids photos taken with the Easter Bunny)
  • Peter Rabbit – Ottawa Family Cinema, 2:00 pm (Back by popular demand! Peter in a special Easter show)
  • Easter Slime – Funhaven, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm (hosted and taught by young entrepreneur Hailey, there are only a few spots left for this fun slime workshop where kids can leave with their very own Easter-themed slime. All supplies are included)
  • Horse and Pony Rides – Royale Equestrian Centre Barrhaven, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Fun activity to try for the whole family. Ideal for anyone that has wanted to try sitting on a horse. Pony rides are 7-10 mins long, $10, cash only, after your ride visit the stables, meet the horses and pet the animals)
  • The Wind in the Willows – The Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (wild tale about the thrill-seeking, lovable menace Mr. Toad comes to life in a brand new musical)

Sunday:

  • Awesome Imagination – Canadian Museum of History, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (a fun-filled day of imaginative activities for the whole family. Sign up for a family dance workshop, get creatively messy in the Studio, and build the structure of your dreams with a pile of soft blue blocks. Free with museum admission)
  • The Easter Bunny at Billings Bridge Mall – 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (The Easter Bunny will be set up in center court for pictures and fun giveaways for the kids)
  • Meet the Easter Bunny – St.Laurent Shopping Centre, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (head to Centre court to have your kids photos taken with the Easter Bunny)
  • Recorders on the Run – National Arts Centre, showtimes at 11 am, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm (Concert recommended for children of ages 3-5, Come early! Show up 30 minutes prior to each concert for free activities)
  • The Wind in the Willows – The Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (wild tale about the thrill-seeking, lovable menace Mr. Toad comes to life in a brand new musical)
