Weekend Family Events for November 10-11

So without further ado, here is your family friendly event listings for the Remembrance Day weekend of November 10-11.

Saturday:

  • Ottawa Pet Expo – EY Centre, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (regular admission $15, free for kids 12 and under, bring your pets to the show, let them try new outfits, new food, learn from experts and see animal presentations)
  • Christmas Craft and Vendor Sale – BCCN 2 Stonehaven Dr, Kanata, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (christmas craft sale, family friendly)
  • Gingerbread House Workshop – 245 Centrum Blvd, Gloucester Pottery School, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (2 participants for the price of one $85, can be parent and child but child must be 7 years or older, you will build a clay gingerbread house together in 3 hour workshop)
  • A Time to Remember – Canada Aviation and Space Museum, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (hands on activities, print making workshop, kids tour, commemorative poems and more)
  • Stonebridge Christmas Craft and Vendor Show – Stonebridge Golf Club, Barrhaven, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (dozens of vendors, entry $2)
  • Open House at New Precision Gymnastics Location – 1980 Merivale Rd, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (check out the new facility and enjoy a mini indoor carnival with balloon artist, face painting, colouring station and more)
  • Alice in Wonderland – Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre, shows at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm (British pantomime show, hosted by Lakeside Players, tickets available online)
  • After the Storm: Tornado Relief Benefit Concert – TD Place, 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm (free concert collecting donations to help Ottawa area tornado victims, featuring Jim Cuddy Band, Sarah Harmer, Matt Mays, Kellylee Evans and many more)
  • Make Believe: Magic of Your Mind – Shenkman Arts Theatre, 7:00 pm (Spidey, International Mentalist, will perform his much-anticipated mind-reading show that has been a success on NBC, Netflix, FOX and more, tickets available online)

Sunday:

  • Gatineau Reptile Expo – Hotel Quality Inn, rue Bellehumeur, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (children under 5 are free, more than 60 vendors)
  • Ottawa Pet Expo – EY Centre, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (see above for more)
  • Family Yoga – Old Ottawa South Firehall, 9:15 am (class is for children aged 3-8 years old plus an adult participant)
  • A Time to Remember – Canada Aviation and Space Museum, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (see above plus live broadcast of Remembrance Day ceremony)
  • National Remembrance Day Ceremony – National War Memorial, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (marching contingents, veterans parade, 2 minutes of silence, laying of the wreaths)
  • Remembrance Day at Bank of Canada – Bank of Canada Museum, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (learn about financing the first world war in Canada, free admission, take a self guided tour)
  • Remembrance Day Ceremony – Beechwood Cemetery, 10:30 am (military members and their families are invited)
  • Memorial Hall Visitation and LIvestream – Canadian War Museum, 11:00 am (A limited number of free tickets will be available as of 9:30 a.m. at the Information desk. There is a limit of two tickets per person. This moving event will also be broadcast within the Museum)
  • Remembrance Day Ceremony – Carlingwood Mall, Centre Court, 11:00 am (limited seating for this ceremony)
  • The World Remembers – The National Arts Centre, 12:30 pm (free show, the German Youth Orchestra will perform this song cycle commemorating WWI)
  • Alice in Wonderland – Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre, 7:00 pm (see above)
